North to the Yukon - The Farm

With our assorted supplies loaded up in our Ford Edge and the dogs happily bedded down in the back, we set off on our first holiday in over two years. We stopped at the off leash park in Innisfail (FIVE STARS) and several other dog stops along the way before arriving at my sister and brother-in-law's "farm" near Sexsmith.

We stayed here for a full month two years ago when we were between homes in 2023. The dogs stayed even longer as Heather and I dealt with the final construction of our SEED Home in High River. They (and we) loved it here and were thrilled to be back.

This is a world where they can run around willy nilly with nary a care in the world. They made a beeline for the patch of the yard where the squirrels hung out, like their muscle memory took over their brains.

Corinne, my sister, has befriended a pair of squirrels. The male (Earl) was nowhere to be seen, but the female (Merle) made her presence known almost immediately.

I grabbed my camera and started making friends with her through the lens. Heather made a more personal connection as Merle hopped on her shoulder.

The farm has a few new features since our last visit.
Chris crafted a small greenhouse from wood recovered from a shed we dismantled two years ago.
He's also built an impressive garden gate and enclosure to protect Corinne's plantings from the deer who come through over night and in the early mornings.
