Art Camp at New Humble

Heather and I travelled north yesterday, from High River to New Humble Community School located just south of Calmar. We are leading a three-day art camp for just over 20 students in this agricultural based charter school located in the country.

We loaded up the car with all the canvases, paints, brushes and assorted tools and material leaving just enough room for Coco and Shay, our dogs. With the seats down, we ended up with more than enough space. I though it was going to be crunchy. The only drawback was the absence of a barrier for Coco. He kept inching closer and closer to the front, climbing on boxes and suitcase, letting out an annoying whine every few minutes. He wanted us to know that where he really wanted to be was sitting on Heather's lap.

We stopped at an off leash dog park in Innisfail that was first rate. A large grassy area peppered with a variety of trees and bushes and bordered with bird houses adorning the top of the fence posts, it was perfect for the dogs and birds alike. It was a perfect halfway there pause.

Arriving at New Humble, we emptied the car of all the art supplies and with the help of Doug and Melissa, got everything set up for today. We have two distinct creative zones with supplies set up in the middle. Heather will lead one group and I, the other.

Coco and Shay jumped into Melissa's truck. Her daughter is going to dog sit them for the next few days out at their acreage. Heather and I went into Calmar, about 10 km north of the school, bought a few groceries and settled into our Airbnb, a basement suite in a new home. Calmar is just west of Leduc and comprises of just over two thousand people.

Camp starts at 8:30. Time for coffee.
