My life as a road

I found myself driving down Franklin Avenue for the first time in weeks yesterday.  Red light. Stop. Green light. Go. Drat!  Another red light. Stop.

It struck me as I stopped and started my way to the opposite end of our community's main street that there was a time, not that long ago when I took this route every day.  It seemed normal.  Frankly, for many years, it was the only way to get from one end of downtown to the other.

The trip down this busy and stoplight riddled thoroughfare helped illuminate the fact that my life is no longer Franklin Avenue.  It is now Clearwater Drive.

There is a new and scenic way to get from one end of downtown to the other.  Clearwater Drive/ Prairie Loop Boulevard follows the contours of the river and offers a slow and gentle way of getting to almost anywhere I want to go in the downtown core. It is also my preferred route to making my way out of the city when we need to head south to Edmonton.

Slow, gentle and meandering is a great way to describe what I manifest for my life now.  I no longer want the stop, start and go of Franklin Avenue - the stress and uncertainty.  The trip along the river offers me inspiring and predictable views of nature with fewer stops and a sense of peace and calm.
