God forbid...

Events of the last week have reminded us that our lives can be taken from us in the blink of an eye.  An entire bus of hockey players, coaches, a trainer and a radio broadcaster went from being in playoff mode to being a situation unimaginable to most of us.

The story of one of those players, Logan Boulet, is inspiring thousands to take a few moments out of their day to register to be an organ donor.  He had done so just a short time before the tragic bus trip and his decisions has apparently saved six lives.

"Are you registered to be an organ donor?" I asked Heather.

"You bet," she said.  "I have a little symbol on my driver's license."

I went looking for mine.  There was none.

God forbid, if I was ever in a serious collision, harvesting my organs would not be an easy thing to do, especially if my wife wasn't around to provide that direction.

They said on the radio that it only takes five minutes to register.  They were right.

I hope you will consider doing the same.  At the very least, have a conversation around the dinner table about it.
