Steps forward

Our High River house was a hubub of activity again today. There were people working in every room, behind the house and under the house. Stephen Morgan, CEO of SEED Homes, said there might have been three people left back at headquarters. It was all hands on deck to get the house done.

It was nice to step into the kitchen with the island in place (sans counter top) along with the dishwasher and fridge. The oven was sitting waiting to get placed in Heather's office. There are cupboards everywhere, up high and down low. It'll be fun figuring out where things should go. Heather is exceptionally gifted at that task.

The kitchen feels great, particularly with the wavy tiles as the back splash. It looks very modern and bright.  Kent was busy finishing off the tile work while his colleague was doing the same in the guest bathroom.

There was some improvisation happening in several locations today including a last minute redesign of the island. There was a small cavern of unusable space that Jim is going to turn into a small shelf unit. That made Heather very happy!
Meanwhile, Arden did a great job with the temporary steps which were placed at the front of our house while we were there. I'm not going to lie. Being able to get into the house without using a step ladder felt great.
Several finishing carpenters were cutting and installing trim around the windows and doors. Nikki and Jesse from the SEED Homes team were working on completing seams on the Trusscore wall system.

Tomorrow will be a big day. Shaw Cable arrives to install internet. One of our storage pods will get placed in our driveway ready for us to unpack. The building inspector also arrives tomorrow which should hopefully result in an occupancy permit. The last thing to happen will be a massive clean.

We are so close to home we can taste it.
