Meagher pulled off the trail to get medical attention

Phil Meagher, after over 30 hours on the trail from Fort Chipewyan to Fort McMurray, has been transported to hospital by helicopter to get medical attention.

“It became clear that Phil was having breathing issues between Shell Landing and the Peter Lougheed Bridge,” said David Brady, Project Manager. “He was picked up by helicopter at the bridge shortly before 2 pm and transported to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre where he will receive treatment for what appears to be exhaustion.”

Meagher completed approximately 230 kilometres of the 280 kilometre trek after leaving Fort Chipewyan on cross-country skis just before 6 am on Saturday, February 23. The historic feat of endurance has raised approximately $10,000 so far for the Centre of Hope.  Additional pledges can be made through their website by clicking here.

The Ski For Hope kicked off with the donation of 24 sets of cross-country skis split between the Fort Chipewyan Campus of Keyano College and the Archie Simpson Arena on behalf of the 2010 Dare2Dream project team, sponsors and supporters.
