Art that inspires me

Over the last year and a half, I have been inspired by other artists.  Seeing their brush strokes, colour choices and sense of composition helped push me along this creative path.  I follow these four, among many, on Instagram.

DOMINIC MATTIOLI

Dominic is an 18 year old phenom from south Florida.  His use of colour is extraordinary.  His body of work, unbelievable.  Even as some of his paintings scroll by me (I have his website open on my second screen), I'm getting inspired.

ERIC STAUB

I discovered Eric when I had hit a wall about to dive into a painting of a dog.  When I saw his portrait of this dane, it felt like I was hit by a jolt of lightening.  I rushed to the canvas and produced a delightful portrait of Finnigan.  Eric, based in Kentucky, continues to inspire me with every post.

PATRICK FISHER

I look at the work of Patrick Fisher from California and I get excited.  Everything his does is inventive, evocative and stunningly original.  He adds textures and ideas to his portraits that is intensely fun.  Love this guy.

DMTRI AFREMOV

One of my aspirations is apply my wild colour technique to urban landscape.  An artist who does this brilliantly is Dmitry Afremov, originally from Belarus, now retired in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.  If we had wall space available, his work is what I'd love to look at every day.
